3. Information about other people
Toolsie may allow you to record information relating to another person, for example where you record who has borrowed or been assigned a tool.
If you provide personal information about another person, you are responsible for ensuring that you have an appropriate basis to collect and provide that information to Toolsie and, where required, that the person is appropriately informed.
Where Toolsie receives personal information indirectly, we will comply with applicable obligations under the Privacy Act 2020, including Information Privacy Principle 3A where it applies.
4. Your content belongs to you
You retain ownership of the information, photographs, receipts, documents and other content you upload to Toolsie.
You give us permission to host, store, process, reproduce and otherwise use that content only to the extent reasonably necessary to provide, secure and improve the Services or as otherwise authorised by you.
We do not acquire ownership of your tool inventory simply because you store it using Toolsie.
5. Artificial intelligence and automated features
Toolsie may provide features that use artificial intelligence, optical character recognition or other automated technologies to help extract, organise, summarise or generate information.
Automated results may contain errors.
You should review important information — particularly serial numbers, purchase information, valuations, insurance information and claim documentation — before relying on or sharing it.
Where third-party technology providers process information on our behalf, we take reasonable steps to use providers appropriate for the relevant service and to protect personal information in accordance with applicable law.
6. When we share information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to:

Service providers may only receive information reasonably necessary for the services they provide to us.
7. Overseas service providers
Some service providers used by Toolsie may store or process information outside New Zealand.
Where personal information is disclosed outside New Zealand, we will take reasonable steps to comply with the overseas-disclosure requirements of the Privacy Act 2020, including Information Privacy Principle 12 where applicable.
8. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational safeguards to protect information against loss, unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or misuse.
However, no online platform or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and should contact us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
9. Data retention and account deletion
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide the Services, or to meet legal, accounting, security or dispute-resolution requirements.
You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information.
Some information may need to be retained where required by law, for legitimate security or record-keeping purposes, or where it forms part of backups that are securely retained for a limited period.
Information you have previously exported or shared outside Toolsie will not necessarily be deleted from those external locations.
10. Access and correction
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you may have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you and request correction of that information.
We may need to verify your identity before responding.
If we are legally permitted to refuse or limit a request, we will explain this where required by law.
11. Marketing communications
Where permitted by law, we may send you information about Toolsie features, products or services.
You can unsubscribe from marketing communications using the unsubscribe option provided in those communications.
We may still send essential account, billing, security or service-related messages where necessary.
